This was our 6th trip to
the Atlanta SX and we had a blast as usual. We got there Friday
evening, picked up our passes, then went into the pits. We got to
meet a lot of our favorites (Vuillemin, Preston, RC, Ramsey, Tortelli,
Walker, Windham and Bentley) My husband likes Reed a lot too and had
his picture taken with him. We stood around and talked to Bill
Ferry, the Team Manager for Mach1. He was so nice and took out a lot
of time answering questions for us. He told us Lusk was supposed to
be there the next day, but he didn't show up (as far as I know) We
spent almost 15 hours at the Dome on Saturday. We walked over early
and went into the pits for a while, went back over to the CNN Center for
lunch, then went back to the Dome at 1:00 p.m. to watch practice until
3:00 p.m. We went back into the pits again, but by this time it was
so crowded that you couldn't even get close to the different team
pits. We ate a quick supper in the pits (Pizza Hut) then went back
to the Dome at 5:00 p.m. to see the last of the qualifiers. The main show
started at 7:30 p.m. This was really the only disappointment that we
had the whole weekend. The racing wasn't as exciting as usual.
The riders I rooted for did not win. The Bubba dance was fun to see.
He had just broke the record for all-time 125 wins. After his podium
interview, he walked over and handed his helmet to a young kid in the
crowd!! Reed was dominant in his win. Windham got around
everyone for second, but with his bad start he never had a chance to catch
Reed. We never saw what caused Langston to get so mad. I saw
him ride off the track, run into Wilson, then throw some punches, but
nothing else. This was another great year for us and we can't wait
to go next year. BTW - We were interviewed by Channel 11, Atlanta
news Friday night. We didn't get to see it, but our friend Kelly
did. |
